What exactly is thought leadership video?
Your perspective, credibility, and research can cut through the noise on social media, at a time when people are craving new ways of thinking and approaching obstacles in their lives.
The best way to do that is by staying in the conversation where people are talking; LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
There are a few formats for the type of content you should be doing, and doing well:
Short-form video that is timely and relevant to current events. Think LinkedIn, YouTube shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok.
Long form explainers for YouTube. This brings your research, guidance, and story to a wider audience and becomes more searchable. Long form can mean , 8 minutes, 12 minutes, or even 20 minutes.
Video podcast. This gets you engaging in lively, unscripted conversation that furthers your ideas.
Having helpful insights and new research is good, but it won’t make an impact if no one sees it or interacts with it. With platforms like LinkedIn pushing more video to it’s overall audiences, it’s essential to broadcast your insights out in ways people consume information the most.

Why work with me?
I’ve been a video journalist/producer for the past 10 years working in newsrooms and academia. I know what media outlets are looking for when they search for experts to comment on a story, and I know what young audiences are looking for in their content creators and the videos they watch. My biggest success came at Harvard Business Review, where I helped bring expertise to a growing audience in a way that sparked engagement on YouTube. So often, I’d work with an expert who had the best research and insight, but didn’t have the means to bring it to the public in a way that fostered learning or engagement. What does this service include?
Let’s say you have a talk, a book chapter, an academic paper, or research that you want to turn into an explainer video on YouTube. Or maybe you have some video ideas, but need some help taking them to the next level. Here’s what it would look like to work with me:
The script
I’ll take your research, talking points, or new idea and turn it into a scripts for short-form video or a long form explainer. We’ll go through a few feedback rounds so your voice comes through authentically in the writing. Basically, I’ll write 80% of the script, and you’ll provide 20% in revisions to ensure the facts and insights are accurate and backed up. By the end of this process, you’ll have a pretty clear understanding of what your video will be.
The video production
I’ll film the video — either in-person or remotely. I’ll provide direction and feedback and make sure you’re comfortable in your voice. Together, we’ll ensure you bring a performance that is authentic to you. I’ll be there to support you through every word and improvisation. I’ll technically make the video, but in the end, you’ll bring it to life!
The editing
I'll edit all the video we produce and add graphics, animation, and music. We’ll go through a few rounds where you’ll provide feedback and suggestions. I have my own voice as a video editor, and it’s my job to blend it with yours.
The final assets
You’ll get the final deliverables for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and LinkedIn. I’ll also take care of the copy, thumbnails, and any back-end needs on your YouTube channel.
The publish plan
Every platform is different and requires an intentional publish plan (YouTube most of all). I’ll make sure you are equipped with a plan to make sure your video is optimized and has the longest shelf life.
